Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
How do I add a feed?
Click the + button in the sidebar, or use ⌘N. Paste in any RSS or Atom feed URL and click Add. Nibblr will fetch the feed and start populating articles automatically.
Can I import feeds from another reader?
Nibblr does not currently support OPML import. You can add your feeds manually using the + button in the sidebar.
How do I organize feeds into folders?
Right-click in the sidebar and choose New Group. You can then drag feeds into the group to organize them.
Reading & Navigation
How do I mark an article as read?
Articles are marked as read automatically when you move away from them. You can also toggle read status manually by pressing R while an article is selected.
How do I bookmark an article?
Press B while reading an article, or use the bookmark icon in the toolbar. Access all bookmarks from the Bookmarks section in the sidebar.
What keyboard shortcuts are available?
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| ⌘↑ / ⌘↓ | Navigate to previous / next article |
| R | Toggle read / unread |
| B | Toggle bookmark |
| ⌘⇧R | Refresh all feeds |
What is Reader Mode?
Reader Mode strips away ads, navigation, and clutter from an article and presents just the text and images. Toggle it with the book icon in the article toolbar. You can also enable Reader Mode by default in Settings.
How do I adjust the font size?
Go to Nibblr → Settings → Reader and choose Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large.
Feeds & Refreshing
How often does Nibblr refresh my feeds?
You can set the auto-refresh interval in Settings → Refresh: every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or off. You can also refresh manually at any time with ⌘⇧R.
A feed isn't loading. What should I do?
Check that the feed URL is correct by pasting it into a browser. If the site uses http://, Nibblr will automatically upgrade it to https://. If the feed still won't load, the source may be temporarily unavailable or the feed may have changed its URL.
How do I remove a feed?
Right-click the feed in the sidebar and choose Delete Feed.
Notifications
How do keyword notifications work?
Go to Settings → Notifications and add keywords. Nibblr will monitor incoming articles and send a local notification whenever a new article's title or summary contains a matching word. Tapping the notification opens the article directly.
I'm not receiving notifications. What should I check?
- Make sure you have at least one keyword added in Settings → Notifications.
- Check that Nibblr has notification permission in System Settings → Notifications → Nibblr.
- Make sure Do Not Disturb is not enabled.
Privacy & Data
Does Nibblr collect any of my data?
No. Nibblr collects no personal information. All your feeds, articles, bookmarks, and keywords are stored locally on your Mac and never transmitted to any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I delete all my data?
Uninstall Nibblr and remove its data container: open Finder → Go → Library → Application Support and delete the Nibblr folder.
Troubleshooting
The app crashed. What should I do?
Please email us at support@nibblr.cc with a description of what you were doing when the crash occurred. If you can include the crash report from Console.app → Crash Reports, that helps us fix things faster.
Articles from a feed are not appearing.
Try right-clicking the feed and choosing Refresh. If articles still don't appear, delete and re-add the feed.
The app feels slow after adding many feeds.
Try reducing the auto-refresh interval or refreshing feeds manually. Each feed refresh makes a network request, so a large number of feeds refreshing simultaneously can slow things down temporarily.
